Indoor Confidence Course

On a day when you can’t get outside it can be challenging to find acceptable ways for children to use their energy. One way can be to build a confidence course indoors.
Children can be involved both in creating and completing the confidence course.
This activity also provides an opportunity for children to develop physical and language skills.

Exploring goal 2:
Children experience an environment where they gain confidence in and control over their bodies.
Here are some ideas to add to your confidence course:
- crawling under chairs
- climbing over couches
- wriggling under blankets
- jumping over an island (paper or toys on the floor)
- stepping on a series of pieces of paper taped to the floor
- walking along a line made with a length of string or paper
- hopping up or down steps if these are available
- creeping under a table without disturbing balloons or balls dangling on strings
- sliding under or over a rope (skipping rope for example) stretched between two chairs
- throwing a balloon or soft ball through a hoop or into a bowl.
