Melting and freezing   You'll need: a spirit burner an old metal spoon a cap from a plastic juice bottle a piece of wax candle

1	Break the wax into pea-sized pieces.
2	Light the spirit burner and use it to heat the wax on an old metal spoon.
3	What do you see happening to the wax?
4	When all the wax is melted, carefully pour the liquid into the plastic cap. Fill the cap to the top. You may have to melt more wax pieces to do this.
5	When the cap is quite full with liquid wax leave it to cool for ten minutes.
6	What do you see in the cap when it has been left for some time?
7	Has the candle wax changed in any way?
