A podcast is a digital audio file which in itself is nothing new. The trick is that by using a clever piece of software with RSS (Really Simple Syndication) technology you can check for and download new podcasts automatically.
Don't have an ipod? You can still download and listen to podcasts on your desktop computer. Print these instructions and take them home....
1. Download and install a copy of itunes to your home computer from
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
2. Open itunes and select iTunes Store
3. Find a Podcast by browsing the selection in the Podcasts area or carrying out a Power Search.
4. Once you have found a podcast that you interested in click on Subscribe.
5. You will see your first podcast begin to download.
6. Click on the Podcast option to see the Podcasts that you have downloaded
7. Select your podcast by clicking on it and then hit the play button.
6. To update and get the latest downloads select Podcasts and all of your subscriptions should update automatically. That is the power of RSS.
7. You can also manually subscribe to a podcast by selecting Advanced>Subscribe to Podcast... and then enter the podcast's URL.
