Some Ideas on How To Search

How good your search is depends on the search criteria. Search criteria is what you enter in the search line before tapping the Enter key to do the search.

Quotes " " around words permits the search to look for only the words that are in the order you put them.

For example, "stephen hawking" will pick up pages that mention Stephen Hawking, but not those that are specifically about hawking.

The - and + symbols are typed immediately before the word and both can be used in the same search criteria.

+ typed immediately before a word brings back only pages containing that word.

- used immediately before a word tells the search not to pick up pages containing that word. It is useful when you want to tell the search engine what words you don't want it to look for.

For instance, search criteria containing the word hawking (the study of using hawks) may be helped by also using -stephen. Using the - symbol this way stops the search engine picking up pages on Stephen Hawking.

It often pays to use several searches with different criteria. Happy browsing!
