The Cooking Club
The saying goes “You are what you eat”. You may have your family to look after your food and nutrition needs now but eventually it will be your own responsibility. Cooking is a life skill everyone should be confident with. It may sound simple but it involves a lot of things. To be able to cook exciting, delicious and nutritious meals, you need to be familiar with food safety and hygiene, food quality, nutrition and, these days, food prices.
Here at Te Kura, we would like to give our students opportunities to develop their full potential. We see to it that they have a programme of learning suited to their career goals, they have opportunities to turn their passions into reality through an authentic learning experience and they can participate in activities that will enhance or develop life skills, like cooking.
The Cooking Club was set up to give food enthusiasts an opportunity to meet and talk about common interests— food and cooking. Members will also cook exciting dishes as part of their monthly activities.
Who can join?
The Cooking Club is open to all students of Te Kura. Contact your Learning Advisor if you are interested to join or you can email Edna de Guzman at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring her at 0800 65 99 88, extension 0 (ask for Edna de Guzman of Hamilton Office). You have to be quick. Numbers are limited to ten for the first cooking event day in Hamilton.
