Seth King-Wall has been titled national elite men’s trampolinist at the National Secondary School GymSports Championships in Auckland.

The 15-year-old TCS student was one of 550 school aged athletes vying for national honours across five different GymSports events earlier this month.

Seth, who has studied with TCS since he was five years old, represented TCS at the championships and the win comes just two weeks after winning the junior North Island title at the North Island Trampoline Championships.

Seth travels to Auckland two or three times a week from his Katikati home to train because there are no suitable local gymnasiums. He says all the travel can get a bit repetitive but he loves the sport too much to let distance be a factor.

‘If I lived in Auckland or we had access to a facility with a high ceiling down here, then I would train every day.

‘With the expense of traveling to Auckland being so high for my parents I know I have to limit my training to only a few days each week, so I train really hard when I get the chance.’

Last year Seth represented New Zealand at the Indo-Pacific Championships where he made the finals of both the trampoline and double mini-tramp events for his age group, finishing a very credible fifth and achieving a personal best score. He hopes to represent New Zealand at the Pacific Rim Championships in Australia next May.
